Worship and Prayer

Join us for our Sunday Worship Services. Most Sunday services are held in the traditional liturgical style with special event Sundays often having less formal services. During special church seasons such as Advent (before Christmas) and Lent (before Easter) we have extra week day services. When the Children’s Learning Center is in session there is a weekly Children’s Chapel Service, with a bible story and singing.
Sundays: 10:30am Worship
Seasonal Wednesdays: 7:00pm Worship

Sunday School and Bible Studies

Every Christian can benefit from continued studies in God’s Word. We offer three classes on Sunday morning (divided by age), one confirmation Class on Sunday afternoons (6th-8th graders), and one family Bible study on Thursday nights. We also offer additional weeknight Bible classes and a Bible Information Class covering the Bible's general teachings at various times throughout the year. Through Bible study the Holy Spirit works to build up our faith as we continue to grow and understand God's Holy Word. Topics covered vary from topic issues (Homosexuality or Historical Church Movements), doctrinal issues (Roles of Men and Women in the Church), and just good ol’ Bible Study (People’s Bible Book Series).
Sundays:9:15am Sunday School and 12:00pm Conformation Class
Thursdays:7:00pm Bible Study

Choir and Musical Expression

“Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.” (Psalm 95:1) The Church Choir is open to all members, knowledge of music or a great talent for singing is not required. The Choir sings in Church on various days throughout the year. Practices are held after services or Bible studies in the days preceding a special event. For those with special talents with solo singing or musical instruments there is always the opportunity to perform during Sunday church service or on special event days.

Youth Group

Youth members are an important part of our congregation. The Youth Group has fellowship and Bible study events- some events include sleepovers/lock-ins, hiking trips, bowling, and movie nights. There are also several national and regional rallies every year for every age group!

Bayou Servants for Christ

Ladies GroupAs a group of ladies who enjoy fellowship and service to their Lord, the Bayou Servants for Christ is a service oriented group that meets after church on a nearly monthly basis. They are in charge of everything from having enough coffee, napkins and spoons to special event planning. They also oversee our member care programs with card writing and other services.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society

Organized through the Bayou Servants for Christ, this is a Syndical (WELS) group for women to become involved and informed in Domestic and International Church Missions. District and National Rally’s are held (or hosted!) annually.

Book Club

A new group! The Cross of Glory Book Club is a public adult discussion group, people from varied backgrounds are encouraged to come. Selected books are read at home and later discussed in the group. All the books are on religious topics. This group meets once monthly, come whenever you can!

Mom and Me Playgroup

This is a storytime and playtime for stay at home moms with young children. The group currently meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays at 10:00AM. The group meets in the Learning Center playground to play in the fenced in play areas and then walks over to the church for a snack. Then the kids are read a Bible story with related and songs. Other books and fingerplay and action songs are also incorporated. Visitors are welcome and make up most of the group.

Council and Other Board Members

Members of the congregation can take on formal leadership rolls within the Church. The Church is run through an elected Council. Elected Council positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Trustee and Elders. The Council is responsible for the operations and functions of the church, as the formal leaders of the Church they do everything from calling Pastors and Teachers to making sure the Church finances are accounted for and thoughtfully used. Subcommittee Chairmen can be elected or appointed; subcommittees or chairs include a Board of Education, Evangelism, Stewardship, Sunday School, and others. Members seeking formal leadership rolls can often find areas very well suited to their skills and interests.

Volunteer

Boys doing Crafts

Not everyone has a schedule that allows them to meet regularly with a group or to stay involved with a club. No matter what your schedule you can always seek to serve the Lord through individual volunteer work. In the past members have done things ranging from yard clean up and painting to artistic woodcarving and sewing. God has given each so many talents!

Leaning Center

The Children’s Learning Center is always seeking dedicated staff and volunteers. In addition to serving in person there are often opportunities such as stitching the alphabet pillows, cooking meals for the staff or cleaning toys. As our major outreach venue extra hands on deck are always appreciated!

Casual Fellowship Events

We have a wide range of casual fellowship events held throughout the year. Events include Prayer Group Meetings, Family Card and Game Night's, Progressive Dinners, Bowling Nights, Hymn Sings and more. Check our calendar for upcoming events or call for details.
