"Welcome and hello, I am pleased that you have visited our website! We have a wonderful place for children to grow physically, emotionally, cognitively and most importantly spiritually. I hope to meet or talk with you soon and answer any questions you might have.

About our Director and Preschool Teacher

My name is Rebecca Toepel, “Mrs” Rebecca to the children. I have a five year degree in Early Childhood Education from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota and am certified to teach in Louisiana. I love teaching preschool. I worked in child care centers durring some of my college summers and started teaching full-time in August 2003, after graduating. I taught preschool for two years in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. I stopped teaching once my daughter was born. In 2006, our family moved back to where I was raised, in wonderful Baton Rouge! I accepted the divine call to be both Director and Teacher here at Cross of Glory Lutheran Preschool in May of 2007. God’s Blessings, Rebecca Toepel

Learning Center Q&A

What are your center’s operating hours?

7:30am – 5:30pm Monday – Friday

What age does a child have to be to enroll?

Effective August 1, 2008 we will be taking age 24 months – 5yrs. We have two classes: a toddler class and a preschool class.

Do your teachers have degrees in education?

Yes. Both our Toddler and Preschool teachers have their degrees in Education. Our preschool teacher’s degree is in Early Childhood Education, a special 5 year program.

When are you closed for holidays?

We are a school with extended care, so we follow the East Baton Rouge Parish School Schedule. We are however only closed during July in the summer.

What curriculum do you follow?

We follow the High/Scope curriculum. This curriculum is all about active learning. The children take their own initiative in the learning process. The adults also play a key role as they fully interact, talk and encourage the children in their experiences. This curriculum also places a huge emphasis on having a set routine. We follow the same routine every day. Our daily routine is in our parent handbook.

Do you provide snacks and lunch for the children?

We are a class “B” license school. Parents bring two snacks and a lunch every day. All the parents take turns bringing two gallons of milk each week.

Do you teach Bible Stories to the children?

Yes, we teach the children about their Savior, Jesus Christ through our Bible stories each week. For example, children will learn how God created the world, they will learn about Noah, Abraham, and Moses. They will also learn the New Testament stories – Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection, etc.
